Research partners

We work closely with the wheat breeders, researchers, whole grain advocates, and big hearted deep soiled thinkers at WSU Bread Lab and the WSU Sustainable Seed Systems Lab.

Most of what we grow has a direct connection to their work and we are grateful to be in their company and guided by their mentorship. It’s going on 12 years now that we have been growing trial plots and grow-outs of grain varieties they’ve worked with to select for yield, flavor, and nutrition-- with the aim of restoring and nourishing the health and vitality of food systems in western Washington and beyond. Our work together with both labs mostly focuses on spelt, common wheat, perennial wheat, barley, rye, quinoa, buckwheat, and a few others.
